If you visualise a sportscar you may have other competing images of Ferrari, Porsche or Aston Martin but how many of their models leap as readily to mind as the E-type does for Jaguar. In 1961 the car captured everyone's imagination from small boy to managing director, with timeless lines and unbelievable performance, it endears itself to each successive generation. As the JDC said; 'some things never change...'
Although 1961 saw the birth of a car synonymous with the word sportscar, (although in context is perhaps more a grand tourer than out and out sports machine), the very first 3.8 litre E-type was not without its fair share of problems; cooling, brakes, gearbox and seating were all far from perfect.
As such we have selected two excellent examples of the later 4.2 litre Series 1 E-type for you to enjoy. Versions that are almost identical in appearance to the original E type which 'stunned the world' and yet incorporate the benefits of several year's production. If you speak to the Jaguar experts they will tell you that this is the version of the E-type to drive - straight six, 4.2 litre double overhead cam, with the classic E-type appearance. The connoisseurs choice...
